Legal Aid

Legal Aid – Harding Evans LLP Family Team may still help you with your family matter

Legal Aid may be available in certain circumstances.

Firstly, provided you satisfy the financial eligibility rules, Legal Aid is always available for the following cases:

  • Any case where Social Services are involved with your children, this includes Court proceedings, PLO meetings and case conferences:
  • Any case where you need an injunction to protect you from domestic violence;
  • Any case where there has been unlawful removal of children and you wish to get a  Court Order to prevent the unlawful removal of a child from the UK, or to secure the return of a child unlawfully removed from or within the UK;
  • If a child needs representation, they will always get Legal Aid;

If your case involves any of the above issues then come and see us and we can advise you about the best way to proceed.

Secondly, you may still be entitled to Legal Aid for your case if you are able to produce evidence that you are, or have been, a victim of domestic violence.  Please contact us for more information in relation to the evidence that is required.

Thirdly, you may still be entitled to Legal Aid if your case involves trying to protect a child from abuse and you can provide evidence to confirm that the child is at risk of abuse from the person who will be involved in the case.  A grandparent or aunt, or even a family friend may apply for Legal Aid in these situations.  Please contact us and we will provide further information in relation to this.

If you think any of these situations applies to you then please come and talk to us and we can advise you further about your options and what you need to do to obtain Legal Aid.
