Harding Evans Recognised Amongst The Best in Wales’ Legal Sector

The inaugural Legal News Wales Awards celebrated excellence in the business of law.

The first ever Legal News Wales Awards was held on Thursday 5th June, showcasing outstanding leadership, growth, equitable cultures and investment in people and communities.

Harding Evans had been announced as finalists in three categories:

  • Future Lawyer Scheme
  • Marketing Initiative
  • Social Impact

We are delighted to say that Harding Evans took home two of those awards!

Marketing Initiative of the Year

The Marketing Initiative of the Year award recognised impactful and effective marketing campaigns within the legal sector –  celebrating strategic marketing efforts that successfully enhanced brand awareness, client engagement, or business growth.

Presented by Sahra-Marie Tulloch, Account Director, Conscious Solutions, said on behalf of the judges:

‘Harding Evans Solicitors saw a problem within a marginalised community and adapted its marketing strategy to solve it. This now award-winning solution includes providing pro bono work for the LGBTQ+ community and the strategy is fully integrated across the firm, with oversight from the firm’s chair.

‘It is a transformational problem-solving marketing strategy and provides a strong sense of community both within and outside of the firm. Congratulations to Harding Evans, winner of the Legal News Wales Marketing Initiative of the Year Award 2025!’

Social Impact Award

The Social Impact Award recognised a firm that have made a meaningful difference in their communities. It honoured initiatives that drive positive social change, improve access to justice, support vulnerable groups, or promote broader societal equity and well-being. The award highlights commitment, innovation, and measurable impact in making a difference beyond legal services.

Presented by John Cullen, Partner, Business Recovery, Menzies LLP,  said on behalf of the judges:

‘Our winner, Harding Evans Solicitors, really listened to members of the firm who identified a community experiencing barriers in finding lawyers they could be confident would have empathy for and understanding of their lived experience. The firm demonstrated a clear passion and commitment in addressing this un-met need.

‘The firm’s approach is not a tick-box one but one that displays a true spirit of allyship and has profoundly, positively impacted society as a result. Congratulations Harding Evans!’

Our support for the LGBTQIA+ Community

Harding Evans continue to work hard to provide an inclusive, welcoming environment for those who identify as LGBTQ+, so that members of the community know where they can turn for legal advice, when they need it.

Having initially provided sponsorship in 2023, 2024 saw us increase our presence at Pride Cymru. We enhanced our sponsorship, had a larger group of colleagues and their families taking part in the parade and for the first time, had an engagement stand in the market area, where we met thousands of members of the LGBTQ+ community over the course of the weekend. We also launched our brochure promoting our LGBTQ+ services and have already seen clients come onboard as a direct result of our presence at Pride. We have already confirmed our continued support for Pride Cymru for 2025.

We have also continued to sponsor Newport’s Pride In The Port, which takes place at the beginning of September. For the last two years, we have taken part in the parade through Newport City Centre and hosted an engagement stand to meet members of the community.

But it doesn’t stop there. We are proud to be able to stand by the side of the LGBTQ+ communities across South Wales and beyond by providing not only our day-to-day legal help and advice, but also legal services that are specifically tailored to the needs of those who identify as LGBTQ+, which draws on the expertise of various departments across the firm.

In November 2024, the Family & Matrimonial team at Harding Evans, in partnership with LawWorks and LGBTQ+ Law Clinic CIC, launched an in-person Pro Bono clinic to provide family advice to members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Those who identify as LGBTQ+ have often reported that they have considerable difficulty in finding legal advice that understands their particular context, so we are proud to be able to put our knowledge and expertise to good use in order to provide the community with much-needed access to justice.

As a firm, we are incredibly proud of firstly being shortlisted as finalists in the three categories, and of course, having our efforts recognised in order to win two of the awards. We would like to pass on our thanks to the organisers and the judges.

We would also like to pass on our congratulations to all the finalists and winners on a special night for the legal sector in Wales.
