Inside Harding Evans

Paul Simon joins the Harding Evans team

Paul Simon, the former Managing Partner of Ince & Co’s Cardiff office, has joined Harding Evans Solicitors as a consultant.

A solicitor of more than 30 years, Paul specialises in Commercial Property matters; including real estate, development, funding and investment, and landlord/tenant agreements. The role at Harding Evans will see Mr Simon assisting with the growth of the firm’s commercial practice, particularly in the Cardiff area.

“I have had conversations with Harding Evans in the past, but my career path took me elsewhere” Mr Simon commented on his appointment, “having now joined, it feels like I have come full circle and I look forward to the challenges ahead”.

Paul qualified in 1991 and formed Simon & Simon with his father, Sam – a well-respected property lawyer.

From there, he went on to form Thomas Simon with Rupert Thomas, acquiring O’Brien Lewis & James along the way. In addition to their commercial work, Thomas Simon also had a private client department, which specialised in Wills & Probate, Family & Matrimonial and Residential conveyancing. In 2018, Thomas Simon was acquired by Gordon Dadds, with Paul Simon remaining as the managing partner of the Cardiff office.

Gordon Dadds went on to become Ince & Co, who were then acquired by Axiom.

Mike Jenkins, Partner and Head of the Commercial team at Harding Evans added “whilst Harding Evans are well established in the Newport area, our Cardiff office is still relatively new on the scene, having been open for just over 5 years. We are still growing our reputation here and I have no doubt that, with his experience, Paul will help us to continue to do that. We are delighted to have him on board”.

Following an intervention by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority, Axiom Ince were closed down earlier this month.

Mr Simon also wanted to convey his thoughts to his former colleagues; “I know that with the recent intervention in the former practice of Ince & Co, that there a number of fee earners and support staff, who have not been as fortunate as I have been in securing a position in another firm, and I wish them the best of luck”.

If you made your Will with Thomas Simon, O’Brien Lewis & James, Gordon Dadds or Ince & Co, following the closure of Axiom Ince, it may now be in the hands of the Solicitors Regulatory Authority. The Solicitors Regulatory Authority will allocate a firm to manage their client files, including all Wills, in due course.

There is absolutely no guarantee that this firm will be local to you. If you want to ensure that your matters are dealt with locally, with a firm that has been operating for over 150 years, Harding Evans can help.

Located in the heart of Whitchurch, the trusted Wills & Probate team at Harding Evans will be able to discuss moving your Will across. Contact them on 029 2267 6818 to make an appointment.
