Introducing our NEW Partners: Craig Court

We are delighted to confirm the appointment of four new partners within the firm, as we continue to grow and strengthen our team. Over the next few weeks, we'll take the time to find out a little more about each of our new appointees, from their journey to #TeamHE to the advice they'd give to someone looking to carve out a career in law.

To kick things off, it's Craig Court - newly appointed Partner in our Dispute Resolution team!

Tell us a bit about yourself…

Originally from Neath, I completed my law degree at Aberystwyth University in 2006 before moving on to London to complete the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law (as it then was), Bloomsbury. I qualified as a solicitor in 2011 and moved to Harding Evans in April 2014.

When I’m not working, I enjoy watching most sports (particularly football, rugby, tennis and golf) and spending time with my family and friends.

What was it that attracted you to a career in law?

My mother is a legal secretary and from a very young age I was spending time around her office, usually in the photocopying room. Being in that environment and spending time around solicitors attracted me to the profession from as far back as I can remember and my desire to become a solicitor never waned after that!

Do you have a career highlight?

For me, winning my first contested hearing, whilst I was still training, at Swansea County Court will live long in my memory. However, I must say that becoming a Partner will take some beating. I just hope that there are plenty more highlights to come.

Describe a typical day as a Partner in the Dispute Resolution team…

Other than being fast paced and busy, there is no such thing as a typical day.  That is what motivates and interests me so much with my role.  I could be in court (or doing the hearing via Teams/CVP as most are these days), discussing cases with clients, working with my team and providing supervision to them, or dealing with things such as budgeting and recruitment, as well as supporting the business generally.

What attracted you to Harding Evans?

I was attracted by the reputation and ambition of Harding Evans. From my first interview I felt a strong connection to the ethos of the Firm and, more than 7 years later, I have been proven correct.

What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue a career similar to your own?

Don’t give up and don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it! There is a lot of competition but with hard work and commitment, anything is achievable.
