Prominent among this vibrant new wave is law firm Harding Evans.

Harding Evans has responded to changing patterns of market demand by developing a wide spectrum of specialist disciplines, for both private and commercial clients. There are now more than 20 distinct areas of the law delivered under one roof at the firm’s Newport city centre base which employs in excess of 120 staff.

The Family team provides one of those growing specialist disciplines and as a part of its expansion we are looking for an experienced legal secretary, preferably with experience in working in a legal environment.

As a Float Family Secretary your key role will be to support a variety of fee earners, enabling them to operate effectively. General duties will include ensuring the typing requirements throughout the Department are met within specified time frame; file opening, administration and closing procedures; mail; photocopying; faxing; making diary appointments and maintaining exceptional client care at all times. In addition you will prepare all correspondence, manage clients’ files and draft basic routine letters.

To be successful in this role you will have:
• Substantial experience in secretarial and administrative practices
• Strong word-processing and audio typing skills and with high standards of accuracy
• Experience of working in a secretarial role or of working in a legal office
• The ability to manage your workload and make decisions
• The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Good communication written and verbal communication skills and the ability to draft routine correspondence
• The ability to display a helpful and courteous manner in dealing with clients. Confidence, tact and empathy are also essential qualities.
