Look for the alternatives to resolve disputes

image - Alwyn ThomasAll businesses at one time or another are involved in disputes which need resolving but this does not necessarily mean having to go to court. Regional law firm Harding Evans has created a dedicated team of specialist solicitors to help companies avoid potentially lengthy and expensive court cases.

The Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Team comprises four highly regarded solicitors including Andrew Jones, Karen Maher and James Rudall, and is headed by Managing Partner Zep Bellavia. The team was formed in response to an increase in demand from clients for specialist advice regarding commercial disputes. As well as being strong litigators, the team also has expertise in mediation, arbitration and adjudication.

Zep Bellavia, Managing Partner of Harding Evans comments “Our firm already has an excellent reputation for its Litigation practice and we wanted to build on this and bring together expertise from across the firm to offer a dedicated and personal service for our commercial clients. Understanding our clients’ business helps us to select the most cost effective and speedy method to resolve their disputes”.

The team has a successful track record acting for local and national businesses and recently settled a case for a client defending a multi-million pound claim against them. The team settled the claim at mediation for 2% of the original claim. It is clear to see that there are many benefits for businesses who use dispute resolution including usually shorter timescales to resolve disputes, vastly reduced costs and less management time being expended by the business.

In addition the team have expertise in other areas such as contractual and supplier disputes, debt collection, commercial property disputes, insolvency, enforcement of judgements, professional negligence disputes, financial services disputes, landlord and tenant disputes and construction disputes. The team is part of the firm’s 22 strong Litigation department and is recommended in the prestigious Legal 500 guide to the UK legal profession.

The creation of this specialist team comes on the back of another successful year for Harding Evans, having been crowned Welsh Law Firm of the Year as well as increasing its staff levels across all key practice areas.
